  • The island has some of the worlds steepest cliffs as its boundaries, due to this the island does not do beaches very well but its capital Funchal more than makes up for it with its large and lively lido . For the adventurous couple the west coast is the place to go for windsurfing, extreme surfing and deep sea fishing. Funchal is a beautiful dynamic capital surrounded on 3 sides by cliffs and on the other by a magnificent harbour.
  • When in the capital don’t miss the “Cabo Girao” one of the highest cliffs on earth. A special treat for a honeymoon couple if you can get over your fear of heights would be to take a hot air balloon ride which will take you 150 metres in the air and give you romantic panoramic view of the capital and surrounding hills and cliffs.
